Ah Ken, so good to see that you have returned from your sabbatical - in the nick of time and full of zing, too.
There have been many threads where a bit of the KIO treatment would have made all the difference. We have struggled in our amateurish ways to keep the fires burning, but it has been tough going at times. Welcome back.
Airbear, greatly relieved, in Oz.

Aw shucks Airbear. Now you've gone and made me blush. Luckily there's only Giotto, my dog, here to see it. And he's seen me do lots more embarrassing things than that. The rascal would tell if he could, but his English vocabulary seems to be limited to "rough" and "roof".

Beg your pardon Major, my mistake. I wasn't referring to my complete control.Major Softie wrote:ME 109 wrote: That's why I personally exercise complete control like 2valve does.
Major Softie still trying to imagine what it is upon which ME 109 exercises complete control....
Other peoples complete control. That's what I exercise.
I try to take them to their limit without getting a walloping in return. Or even worse.....zinged back.

So, you exercise other people's complete control. That is quite a trick. I'm going to have to start working on that, as I don't think it is a skill I've mastered . . . or even experienced . . . or even understand how and what it is.ME 109 wrote: Beg your pardon Major, my mistake. Yikes. A flummed ox is almost as bad as having a boozled bam.Major Softie wrote: Oh dear, I fear my ox has been flummed.

Not to worry, there's a kit for fixing that. Just make sure it comes with the whole kaboodle...Airbear wrote:Yikes. A flummed ox is almost as bad as having a boozled bam.Major Softie wrote: Oh dear, I fear my ox has been flummed.

You did not have the distinct advantage of being raised Christian Scientist, or you would know of such things, M.Major Softie wrote:So, you exercise other people's complete control. Re: 5 speed ribbed tranny rebuild
I've decided to put the hammer and punch away (for now) and buy a transmission shimming plate from Cycle Works.
I could not find one in Aus.
Measuring my shims that were in the tranny have shown that they are sort of unusable, giving different measurements.
Fortunately, I bought two of each thickness new shims (8)
Interestingly, measuring the new shims individually gives me thickness differences of up to .03mm. WTF?
The shims from Motobins also measure overthickness mostly. Supposedly .28mm are measuring average .32mm etc.
I guess that doesn't matter as such.
I'm supposed to get end float measured in atoms and I get asteroids to do it with?
This is quite difficult for such a thorough, and proper procedural person to deal with.

That usually happens from sitting on something cold and hard and flat, like a BMW seat.ME 109 wrote: and I get asteroids to do it with?
