Toaster Panel repair

Does anybody know of a person/place (or thing) to repair toaster panels?

I have a large batch of them but they are all flawed. Some need the tabs fixed on the back (welded or soldered).
Some have dents, dings or and nicks.

Then of course, i can always have them re-chromed.

Any leads would be appreciated! I'm located in southern california.

Look up your nearest electroplater and ask for an opinion of which ones require what repair. Wonderful things can be done!

I think it was around $150 for both panels. It didn't include replace the black lines on panels.

huh. I am getting a quote from them for nearly double. Thanks for the tip though. I may still end up using them for a set because they assured me that they would do top notch, long lasting work and the owner of the bike I'm building wants that kind of quality.

I did a test... I found a local shop that is really affordable but I have no idea how long the chrome will last. I got the panels back last week and they look good.

After talking to the guy at Polished Treasures, he assured me that they would do a bunch of different processes (which I can't remember) and his chrome would stand the test of time, etc... I'm still waiting for an actual cost and turn around time. He has had them for a few weeks now.

I'll report back once i have them in my hand again but it looks like you got a good deal. Without him seeing my panels, he was quoting much higher then what you paid.

Yeah, I remember back in the 70's when Triumph was still doing the "marine chrome" process on it's chrome parts. Those parts could withstand far more weather than the Japanese bikes . . . looked better new too.

I don't remember how many plating steps there were for "Marine chrome." but it was something like 6 or 7, with polishing in-between.

Yep, them were the days. Too bad they didn't triple chrome plate all of the Lucas components, or for that matter their wiring and gas tanks too.

(I get to say that cuz I'm a fan of old Brit bikes.)
