"Anyone who can worship a trinity and insist that his religion is a monotheism can believe anything... just give him time to rationalize it."

Has anyone figured out the person I have been quoting yet?

Trying to stay out of the religious part of the discussion, I found this one interesting. The "logic" can show up in arguments about various topics. Paraphrased: Everyone is exactly like me. Those who claim they are not are just lying.

I'm sure this one has a name in the list of argument fallacies, but I don't recognize it by name.

A fine author who's attitudes toward religion are very creatively expressed in one of my favorite books: "Stranger in a Strange Land."

I think a nice non-atheist quote about the issue comes from Thomas Jefferson:

"Question with boldness even the existence of a god; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blindfolded fear."

Attributed only to myself, as far as I know: "Question everything, or learn nothing."

Well then, gentlemen, the challenge is squarely in front of us.
Let us see how tolerant we airheads are of each other. :?:

I've always noticed Manfred's tag line with nervous apprehension, but he had never "gone preachy" before, so I never worried about it. That is why I've never been to the Christian Motorcyclists Assn. website (I think that is what the big group is called), but I figured this was Manfred's thread, so I'm more than willing to give him some leeway.

Bob - I don't think you are going to shake Manfred's faith.

Gents - no offense taken at anything posted here. God is in His heavens and not the least bit put off by man's "wisdom". Men who do not question things are foolish. God's Word tells us to "Test all things, hold to that which is true." I say, test all electric wires, hold to those which are not carrying amperage.
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1)

I think that discussions of a religious nature should be confined to the speakeasy

What a beautiful picture! The following comment is in the speakeasy: That picture declares the glory of God!

Manfred wrote: God is angry with sinners all day and those who do not come to saving faith in Christ Jesus will stand before Him on Judgment Day and be held accountable for every word, thought, and deed that does not conform to His holy standards.
robert wrote:"Faith strikes me as intellectual laziness. " Who wrote that?

Hmmm, neither scores well on the tolerance meter.
