Duane has opined that only an idiot would put a VW engine into a Beemer. Or words to that effect.

Is that a /2 trans?
Call me Mel. Some years ago- never mind how long precisely- having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me at home, I thought I would ride about a little and see the other parts of the world.

At a glance yes. It looks like they machined off the air filter housing.

Edit: They used a 702 kick start lever.

The probable reason for the /2 box, there where a couple of different kits avaiable that included an adapter plate to bolt the box to the VW engine. Ural and Dneper boxes are sometimes used now, but look different.

It appears the one in the opening post has a 1.9 liter engine......and Weber carbs. You know, in case a regular engine isn't enough for ya.

My regular engine had so much torque that I could put it in 4th, top gear, and from a standing start, slip the clutch a bit and walk away while at an idle. You can't easily do that in first with the stock /2 engines unless the idle is set quite high.
Ask the Indians what happens when you don't control immigration.

That must have come in real handy a lot of times. (Sorry, Duane. My wise-ass gene made me say it.)
