I was looking at one of those the other day. I didn't try it on for size but I sat on a 250 they had. It was comfortable, and didn't feel like I would have much weight on my hands even when sitting still. The 300 has fuel injection too, but I don't know what that one costs.

All these new small singles are basically "hands off".
Sure you can get a slip-on muffler and a fuel controller to get maybe one more hp, BUT...
I was wondering if you could ditch the FI and all the electrics in favour of something more basic like the electrics from a XL250 enduro, and a Mikuni aftermarket carb. Then you could massage the engine a little, make the thing breathe etc., etc.
Kinda like a Ducat 250 from the 60's that came with 28 hp stock as opposed to 24 with the CBR250R.
Crazy I know, but I hate this "don't touch it b.s." about new bikes. I do like the mechanical advances in the engines.

Why not the CBR250R?

I was very close to buying one on sale. Took a couple of test drives, one fairly long. I realized that I would never ride my conversion any more, so I put it up for sale. Then someone wanted to buy it and I just couldn't sell. Soooo I decided on the 125 as it filled most of my needs as an economical/fun town/backroader, but I would still need my conversion if I want to go somewhere, or even just exceed the speed limit.

I was also giving the new Ninja 300 a serious look. The little 125 was $1200 off, which is pretty big discount on a $3500 bike, so I felt I had little to risk. I'll give a full ride report after I get it fully run in. Right now all I can say is it looks like it's going much faster than it is.

Keep in mind that these bikes are built in Taiwan, not Japan. But they are engineered and built under the supervision of Honda.

But so far I am enjoying mine, as much as you can with it snowing outside. I think by the time I return from Ken's I will have a real idea what this bike is made of.

True, but there is the odd member there that does know something, and is not afraid of ripping apart their new bike and doing some serious suspension upgrades and real engine upgrades.

For now I'm refining my drafting techniques. Oh ya....... real brakes are soooo cool.

Real men are can make do with a marginally capable brake in the front and no brake in the back (ie. 1975 R90) and a transmission that shifts like a school bus.
