Crankcase breather outlet swaps? /5 to R65 style?

Post by jjwithers »

Does anybody know if the crankcase breather outlets are interchangeable between a /5 style that points to the rear right of the bike to a R65 style breather that points straight upwards?

For customizing reasons, the fact that the /5 style angles outwards, away from the engine, is interfering with my custom starter cover.

Here is the one i want to use but I'm not sure if the base is exactly the same on the /5. If it is, does anybody have one to sell?

I think it will work, same round gasket. All the others are rectangular. Since the early tubes are NLA from BMW, they are selling the upright ones as replacements.

Attaboy Rob!

I think jj lives in a remote village at the bottom of Mt.Everest.
I think mail arrives via plane, train, truck, motorcycle, bicycle, sherpa and then pigeon.
How heavy is that thing?

Yes, that remote village is actually called Los Angeles. Nobody in their right mind would want to live here... Except for the fact that it is always motorcycle season!

Thanks Rob, I sent you a PM. I think this will solve my problem perfectly.

Yeah, 10 - 15 million people, and none of them in their right mind. That fits neatly with my experience with LA.
MS - out

Thank God Josh has motorcycles to keep him stable.

It was a miracle! -7C in the garage, and all 4 of my fluorescent tubes came on!

First block I came to - no piece.
Second block - SURE NUFF!

I told Josh just to send whatever money he wants to Matt for the forum upkeep. Perhaps this will be a reminder for any of us that have been wanting to send money but have forgotten. 8-)

Here is another way to send money to Matt! (wink wink) viewtopic.php?f=26&t=6105
