Motorcycle or bicycle?

This is for the discussion of Motorcycling. The art, the science, the theory of all things related to our favorite sport... riding motorcycles.

Great vid, Jeff. DucatiPete and I came up that hill yesterday, after finally making it to the Cold Flame rally at the Pinch (only a couple of weeks late). I really enjoyed your 'luge' vid too. That run down to Khancoban had us grinning like idiots.

Thanks Charlie, It's a fun road through those cuttings whichever way you're looking at it.
I'm glad that sign near the start didn't say 'BRIDGE OUT!' 'cause I wasn't looking. :P

Where else did you go on the Barry Way? It's wild country down there.
Did you find any roaches at Pinch River?
When we pulled up at the Pinch for the rally, I couldn't see any bikes! My first thought was 'strewth, what date is it'
But Ken pointed over yonder a little way off, to a herd of dual purpose bikes quietly grazing.
So we roared in there on our RS's, scattering the frightened GS's etc in all directions!
We got some unhappy looks from the knee padded riders, but all was well. The GS's all wandered back into camp before nightfall.

We set up our base camp at the Pinch on Monday arvo and visited McKillops Bridge on Tuesday. On the way back we needed juice, so headed for the Seldom Seen Servo. Found this ...

We were able to get petrol at Gelantipy, a bit further south of there. The bloke there told us that Seldom Seen Dave died about a year ago. Then, two nights before we were there some vandals trashed the place - even knocked over the pumps. Pretty horrible stuff.

It was a great ride. Gotta love that bit of country and the roads that take you there. Gotta love these old bikes too, for doing it all with such dignity.

I remember Dave from Seldom Seen. First met him when Jim and I first went down to Mckillops bridge. That was 31 years ago.
Dave had a ford mainline ute parked under cover near the shop.
Saw him a couple of times after that, but that was a long time ago too.
Shame to see what remains of a persons life after the vultures move in.
My experiences at, and around Mckillops bridge serve as a solid foundation for all my adventures since.
There is some of the most wicked rocky trail riding I've ever seen there.

Indeed, Rob.
The other part of the story is that Seldom Seen Dave met his end by swallowing a mouthful of caustic soda solution. He had mixed it in a soft drink (soda) bottle, and accidentally swigged it to wash down some tablets he had just picked up at a pharmacy in Bairnsdale. He took two days to die. Imagine that - death by Draino.

Here is a pic from 2010, when Hans and I were there. I prefer to remember Seldom Seen Dave like this. Now I'm wondering what happened to Lambogini the sheep.

In proper Seldom Seen fashion, there is a sign saying "Back in 30 minutes" still taped to the front door.
