Rain Suits (for Steve in Golden)

Post by Deleted User 287 »

Steve,

My suggestion is to go to your local dealer or generic M/C accessory store (http://goo.gl/maps/rvVky) and see what they have. Wear your gear so you can try it on.

I've had both one-piece and two-piece. One-piece suits are made for people that travel in couples, or are contortionists (IMO).

Two-piece will keep you dry, and are a lot easier to don and doff.

Make sure the collar is snug. Also make sure it is lined with soft material.

I just got some of the three-finger over-mitts from Aerostich that have a squeegee built-in to the left thumb. Very handy.

I guess the hot set-up for anti-fogging face shield is some kind of aftermarket unit called Pinlock. At least that is all they talk about on the CBR250R site. When I Googled anti fog motorcycle face shield I didn't see Pinlock until the 3rd page!

I've always used a stock shield and usually crack it.

...And my mesh jacket has a rain/thermal liner(s), but the problem with that is the rain goes through the mesh, hits the rain liner, and then runs down inside your gloves.
With a separate rain jacket, I can suit up, put on the rain mitts and then put on the rain jacket over it all. Then I only need worry about the rain jacket zipper with the mittens on.

Then hope I don't have to pee.

Thanks for the great suggestions and for thinking about me Rob and Randy. I am going to Performance Cycle today to check out their rain gear selection. I wonder if they have FrogToggs?

On Saturday, I went to Performance Cycle on the GS. Not only did they have Frog Toggs for a reasonable price, but the sales person who waited on me was a hot young woman who rides motorcycles. She did not ride her MC that day though, the weather was a little dicey (a bit overcast, a bit chilly, rain in the forecast). I guess she is not a hard core BMW rider who doesn't let a little bit of bad weather stop her from motorcycling. But who cares, she was cute and pleasant to deal with.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. See you at Ken's in May.
