Last week my R100 GSPD fluttered and died when I was parking it - it acted like it was running out of fuel, but that was not the case. When I tried to re start the bike, only the oil light lit up on the dash when I turned the key, and there was no response when I hit the starter button. Any idea what is going on here?
Since then I went through the wiring looking for loose wires (none), installed a fresh battery, cables and a new regulator/rectifier, and replaced a blown fuse (that was between the old rectifier and the battery) - none of this made a difference. I should mention that the bike runs a Euro MotoElectrics 450w charging system that has worked flawlessly for the past several years.
Any ideas on what I should check or what might be wrong will be greatly appreciated! I'm stumped!
Thanks.

Immediate thought was the hall effect sensor in the bean can
Does the tach needle move at all when you press the starter button?
Double check the kill switch...flick it on/off/on/off/on/off. Maybe clean it.

Re: '94 GSPD starting issue
Steve's suggestions are good, but if they don't help, it's time to do some actual tracing. If you did the alternator install, you should certainly be up to it. Personally, I'd probably begin by checking power at the starter relay and ignition switch.

Re: '94 GSPD starting issue
An Major says, after the kill switch start at the ignition switch and check for power into the switch, and for power at the various outputs as the switch is turned on.
If that checks out OK then the starter relay is next, as a few other circuits pick up power there, but if that checks out I am out of ideas.
