r100rt seat

Post by sprints@pldi.net »

Just got an r100rt and it has an older Corbin seat that's too wide at the nose and makes it difficult to flatfoot the floor. What options are available at a reasonable price? Thanks - Rod

An original seat from ebay?
I reckon some of those after market seats look ridiculous.

I lowered my '88 RT close to an inch to use the Corbin seat. I've been thinking that I would be happier having the original seat overhauled with new foam and a leather cover. My keester would really get sore with the original seat, so the Corbin has been a big improvement as far as riding comfort is concerned.

No personal experience, but I have heard good things about these people -

I've spent most of my money on women, motorcycles, and beer.
The rest of it I just wasted.

Corbin has a rep for ill-fitting pans. That may not be as true now as it once was, but it's the rep they earned.

Sargent has a better reputation. Most of the others (Russell, Mayer, etc.) use your stock pan and build you a new seat on it.

Three Russell seats on three different
bmw's have been lifesavers. The cross-seat leaf spring supports at your hips and takes the pressure off your tailbone.
