'77 R100RS

Hi guys, This fellow wants to swap his '77 R100RS for my very tidy, low mileage '88 K100LT. I'm waiting to find out the specifics on the RS like Mileage,Condition, etc. Is the '77 a desirable year in an RS?, and if its pretty tidy n original,
what would it be worth in Oz? Cheers Jeff.

The '77 RS was the last of the big motors without the EPA stuff, epecially for US deliveries. If I were looking for an Airhead, this would be at the top of my list.

I don't know about there, but here the K's are very undervalued, so it sounds like a good trade to me.

Yeh Softie, their undervalued here too for what they are, though still not as cheap as the States or Europe,
I'm asking 4,500 for my '88 K100LT but it's low Kms & real nice, why I was asking bout clean swap for the RS.

Imo, under 100 klm, original paint, rather good general condition, $5000 min.
A very nice specimen, 7000 upwards.

From what I've seen and heard. Others from the land of Oz will offer their opinions I'm sure.

Hell, I'd get 5 grand for my bike. But it is special

They certainly are one of the more desirable airheads out there but all depends on the condition.

If its all original and in relatively good condition then they are worth a few good bucks.

I sold my 77 RS last year for $6500 CAD (about $6650 AUD).. It was all original with only one prior owner. Approx 43,000 kms. Also had all documentation re work orders etc with it from day one from PO. Original paint. Only few scratches on her but the buyer had no problem with that...he said it was "patina". He also bought a set of mint Krauser panniers (with 2 sets of keys no less) and racks for her for additional $450 CAD. So thy are valuable if in the right condition.

80's K100's here are not worth heck of a lot. If the RS is in good condition I'd say your ahead on this deal.

By the way, the buyer of the RS flew in from Red Deer, Alberta. I picked him up at the Toronto airport broughtup to our place to get the bike and he rode it home ...3700kms. Phoned me when he got back and said not one problem with the bike on the trip...the best part being flat out through the prairies at 160kph +

Klaus and I stay in touch and I'm looking for a 90S or R69 for him but they are not too many around in Canada...

If I remember correctly the '77RS had the very desired 40mm head pipes. Also, being the first year for RS should make it more collectible. And if it should have the so-called 3/4 seat, your cup runneth over.
