I need to replace the gaskets on both of the doors to the "glove" boxes on my new to me 1989 R100RT. The bike's prior owner tried to reglue the original longish, round rubber seals/gaskets (like O ring rubber) and made a mess of it. I have been able to get the glue he used off both of the doors but the rubber was in such bad shape it broke in several places when I was trying to remove the glue from them.
Any recommendations on the best way to replace them? I was thinking about just cutting gaskets out of a "cork" sheet I have and gluing these fabricated gaskets to the doors? Is there a better way? Any direction on what type of glue to use?
I plan on using these storage compartments for electronics such as a digital camera, IPad, etc... If I can get them waterproof.
Any direction and words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
