$10 and five minutes at my local machine shop and I now have flush 36mm,that offset spanner would be nice to have though.Thanks again to all of you for the advice.

Even with the ground off socket it is hard to hold it on the nut. If you think/hope that your forks are in alignment, then don't ever tighten/loosen fasteners with the forks against the stops.
Ask the Indians what happens when you don't control immigration.

Also, a standard socket held in a vice grip type pliers will work on the bottom nut holding the slider on.
