I'm not sure if I should start a new thread, so I won't and we'll go on to the carbs.

The bike came with Mikunis, and started and ran well. Mounting was shite, seals at head custom ground and beat. After I got the charging and lights working, ventured farther from home, I was glad that the drive train felt good, bike ran pretty well. I came back dumped all the fluids, rode it a little more. The old lady was very patient with my prolonged, obsessive, maniacal quest to get this bike on the road, so I took her out for a ride as a reward. We headed out the back roads, everything worked nice, then she said she felt something leaking on her foot, looked down left carb overflow pouring gas out. I turned around headed for home, shut off the left petcock, and told her the faster we go the less it leaks. I got home, pulled the Mikunis, cleaned the bowl and seats and slides, tried to ride it to work the next day, and kicked the left carb off as I scrambled to whoa up when a couple deer walked in front of me. Split the seal at the head clean in two. Wasn't far from home luckily, rode it back in second gear while holding the carb on with my foot.

When I got home that night the porch was littered with packages from e-bay, and praise the gods, among the goodies were seal kits for the Bings(which were included with the bike), as well as a set of used throttle cables, and used tubes and clamps. I hadn't planned on putting the Bings on right away, but things were different now, so I broke them down, cleaned them up, mounted everything up nice and solid, and I'll tell you she don't run too bad.
The last few days have included a lot of thunderstorms, but I managed to get in a test ride once. As of this morning, she has been declared fit for commuting duty, and made the 13 mile trip each way without any problems. Not counting my clumsiness with the shifter, and fumbles at the turn signals.
Speaking of which, my switches bang into the tank, before any fork stops, two big dents up there, they are real low narrow bars with end mirrors. I bought a set during my e-bay spree, low rise euro bars, and they're exactly what I have.I pivotted them up but they still hit, what am I missing?
All in all, this bike is cool, I think I'm going to like it. Smooth, compared to the old Harley, so smooth. And good looking, the seating position I'm not so sure of, but I'll give it a go as is and we'll see.

You really should start a new thread, or you lose continuity, as many/most of us are too old to follow.
Ask the Indians what happens when you don't control immigration.

Yahbut we pride ourselves in thread degradation around here.

Now, what were we talking about again?

Ah, Miks. What size?
If you can rebuild what you knocked apart, AND if they are 38mm, you will find they are a lot "snappier" than the Bings.
Yeah, I DID say that.
S bars' controls will hit the tank if you are using bar-backs of any sort. You can try rolling the control pod a little but you have to be careful of how your hand positiion gets, then. Could your bars have been shortened? For riding, you should not be turning the bars that much that they hit.
Once you get things in order, seriously consider new coils, wires and SP caps.
We will tell you what's cool to use. The OEM caps and wires are probably way past their useful lifetime now.
