After I don't know how many years and numerous rebuids, Heads, forks, tranny, powder coat frame, and tank and fenders painted. New bearings in anything I could think of. I'm ready for some assembly. My current question (and I'm sure there will be more) is can I assemble the engine and trans them put them in the frame as one unit without removeing the swing arm or should I put them in separately, or am I going to have to remove the swingarm no matter what.

Engine first and then the tranny. You still have to pull the two swing arm pins and pull it back a couple of inches.

Or, you could try the /2 trick. Put the engine in (hold off on the headers/mufflers), slide the two engine mount bolts in place. With an appropriate jack, remove the rear bolt and rotate the rear of the engine up. With enough rotation, you might be able to slide the tranny in place...you'll have to leave off the air cleaner (of course) and the battery and tray should not be installed. Worked on a /2...might work on a /5??

Great news, (for me anyway). Set the engine in, tilted it forward on the front mount bolt ant the tranny slipped in like it was made for it. (Guess it is actually). I really didn't want to remove the swingarm if I didn't have to.
