Pressure relief valve: screwed or pressed in?

Post by StephenB »

Model: all Airheads

Is the pressure-relief valve mounted on the front of the engine (at the top of the front main bearing carrier, oiling the timing chain) threaded or pressed in? I believe it is threaded but never took one off. Comes off easy? Special tool required?

(I do NOT refer to the oil filter bypass inside the oil filter canister)
Some of the above is fact, some is fiction, some is my personal imagination and some is just simple truth. [me]

The picture at the bottom of Anton's page:

suggests that it's screwed in.

Sorry...misread that. I'm not familiar with the other relief valve. Where is it in that picture?

It's the round tube above the bearing. It is also an oiler as it releases if the oil pressure is higher than 75PSI (I think).

It's screwed I believe. Check orientation of the outlet hole.
