Clutch Cable - SNAP!!

Yes I know "wheres ya spares" !!

I carried a spare clutch cable and throttle cable taped to the inside wall of my hard pannier on my r100rs which went untouched, lesson learnt with this bike and a little careless..

Mal: yes it was an interesting ride home at first, stayed in 5th most of the way "automatic style" but then down to 3rd through the towns so I could slow and time the red lights well as I had to slow the traffic behind me then gun it through, changing down was a little nail biting but not to harsh, changing back up and easy!!

SteveD: Sorry I missed you all, I was pissed with myself when I turned and headed for home...
Great pic to BTW and I rang Jeff last night and got an update the days outing that he and Charlie had.. Hamburgers, Dam site seeing, Off road enduro "GS" style riding through pine plantations, sounded just a normal day out for those to adventurers will catch up again soon Charlie and Jeff.

Hzbloke: Yes will get back up that way one day again soon, hopefully over the Christmas break..

Parts will be ordered today and bike will be back on the road quickly!!

Pity about that, Grant. I normally carry a spare clutch cable, but realised yesterday when your text came through that I didn't have it with me on this run. I think I'll do the old 'spare cable beside the existing cable' trick.
Forgot my nice china coffee cup, too.

Two clutch cables were ordered this morning plus end nibble and rubber cap to suit, and also I dropped out the gearbox oil this morning, fingers were crossed for no greyish crap on the magnetic drain plug and whopping great chunks of metal flopping out into the pan covering the shed wall with a wave of oil...

Nope nothing! it was all crystal clean with nothing on the magnetic plug at all time will tell I suppose, btw I am running a pommy company brand of oil called "Morris" in the diff and box http://www.morrislubricants.co.uk/scripts/default.asp not starting a oil thread as such, just saying as I use their vintage car 50w oil in my old Chev and had excellent results

When it comes to clutch cable, the general idea is to have a 2nd routed parallel but with the ends covered to keep it clean.

Sounds like a lot of mess when all you have to do is inspect and grease the ends once a year.

Barrels got to rotate in order not to break easily.
