I'll bet you're loads of fun at parties, Major, but lets assume that the only "coolant" found in a BMW motorcycles gas tank would be water... in which case it would produce only steam (I've seen it happen). I know some people say burning oil produces blue smoke, but it sure looks white to me, as opposed to the black smoke of a too rich mixture.

I'll give you water in the tank could make steam, but that's still not coolant.

Fun at parties notwithstanding, wrong is wrong, and I'm not the only person who sees oil smoke as blue, and coolant really does make white smoke - not just steam. After all, from time to time, within the ongoing party, we are trying to occasionally give someone accurate info for their bike. ;)

Diesel mixed with petrol will make lots of white smoke.
Seen that before but it wasn't me, how 'bout that.

I don't think I'll try that in my smoke machine....

I met a young lady a week or so ago, who had filled a diesel New Beetle with gasoline... I imagine that is harder to rectify than the opposite?

Yeah, I don't think diesel pumps/injectors do well with gasoline. I haven't dealt with this since the proliferation of ethanol, so God knows what that would add to the equation.

yeah, everything I've seen says that a little gas in the fuel in an old diesel wasn't that big a deal, but that it doesn't take much at all to do some very expensive damage to the new "clean" diesels.
