This is for the discussion of Motorcycling. The art, the science, the theory of all things related to our favorite sport... riding motorcycles.

BMW wins IoM senior TT.

Post by SteveD »

Yeah I know, not quite airheads, but the first big win in 75 years at the IoM.

Michael Dunlop just won the Senior TT on his BMW S1000RR. His 11th victory altogether and his 4th this week. Eleven wins puts him equal to Phil McAllen and Steve Hislop.

From the start in Douglas out to the town of Ramsey they average over 145 mph along country lanes. The climb up the mountain slows this down to an average of 130 plus.

The IoM was an amazing event to really semi-experience through the bike-mounted cameras used for the TV coverage on the Velocity cable channel. But two riders dead in one week may be both par for the course for the TT, and a bit much. Values must differ a bit when one of the dead riders was briefly eulogized by a TV race commenter as "a really great rider, and a fun guy at the pub" . . .
