Carbs

What are thew advantages/disadvantages to changing out bing carbs (81 RS) to Dellorto or Mikuni carbs?

Typicaly a slide type carb (when well set up) gives crisper throtle response. CVs when set for decent gas milage have a bit of a lag when you crack the throttle. Slide carbs are much more altitude sensative as well, and since most BMWs travel this is a big advantage to the CVs.

So it the simle answer is slides = performance and CVs = fuel economy and flexability.
