THOSE SEALS AROUND...oops,...the pistons can deteriorate and split. Probably worth changing them every 15 years or so!

Mine were manufactured in 1983 and look perfect.

I'm still on original 79 seals and they seem fine. There is still enough hysteresis in the rubber to pull the pistons back and have the wheel spin free.

This world has too much hysterics!

Do you have a dual disk set up?

Single disc with Ate caliper.

Can't see why the seals shouldn't work the same on dual disc. Only difference is they push twice as much fluid back into the master cylinder reservoir.

That's a much different caliper, and with two discs rubbing I would imagine any drag would be increased.

It's a dual piston Ate caliper so very similar to a Brembo.

If there is drag from the pads then I suppose dual discs are bound to make it worse. If the drag is zero then 2 x zero is still zero. That wasn't my wheel spinning video but mine does behave the same and will spin for close to a full minute so zero drag or close to zero drag is possible.

That was my '79 R65 in the video, Barry.

I just think those '79s were freaks of nature.
