I feel your pain... Bear in mind, though, that if you have to spend serious money getting the bike running well, it will put a serious strain on your customising budget. Sometimes it is worth spending a little more on a going bike... When I rebuilt my R60/6, I spent twice as much on the rebuild as I spent on the bike and that was in working order and it didn't include paint.

i have start searching in the uk.. i am trying to find info about how much it will cost to bring a bike from the uk in greece. The only problem is the customs office. we have some extra unfair taxes. on the other hand, the bike is more than 10years old so its not much money cause it depends of the age of the bike.. The delivery is about around 500euro. so i believe it will cost around 1000-1500e the transformation and the customs office etc.. i believe it worth it if the bike is in a good condition and in a fair price, instead of buying a bike full of rust..!!! and i will have a reason also to visit uk.. ;)

ps. please take a look here the prices. they are joking..!!!!

LOL!
Welcome to the world of BMW.
If you're on a restricted budget, I would not recommend a BMW of any year or model, unless maybe if it's a gift.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my beemer, wouldn't trade it for any other bike.
I basically just have the time of my life beating it up every summer, and then throw money at it all winter so it's ready for its next season of thrashing.
I and have done this to my present GS for over 30 years and 520.000 kms. it never gets old, still looks and runs better than new, and I enjoy every minute on it, but on the other hand, I could have bought a house with what I have spent on it over the years.

gspd i have to say that you do the right thing.. i wanna do the same.. i want a bmw and i want to keep it for my children with many kilometres on its back.. ;)
and to answer about the budget, im not in a restricted budget but im not going to overpay a bike only because here they are trying to steal you..!!! its not worth a r100 6000euros in just a good condition. lets be realistic.. I will not give them the money they lack..!!! the budget is still in contrution mode, and im in the searching face, looking what model and which year i like and i have to buy.. im thinking of r100rs or r100rt of '80 or later.. i dont know exactly what i will found.. but i will keep you informed.. i dont have anybody else knowing about bmws in my friends or my surround.. so i trust you guys.. you have already helped me alot and make my thoughts better and more straight..
