I bought this package http://www.euromotoelectrics.com/produc ... lt-bmw.htm last fall because I had a brand new regulator. All installed and working great. The working stuff that came off the bike are now now known good spares. Plus I recived 2 sets of brushs
, probably a one off.
Edit:
At those prices there is no excuse not to have spares if you plan on traveling on an airhead.

Hello Tim,
After I fitted the S type fairing to my R80 it became apparent that
the alternator was past its prime.
The almost new AGM battery ($200.00 by PO) was only reaching 12.2V.
Not good. The most the alternator put out was 12.5 volts headlight, taillight on.(3000RPM)
At an idle with blinkers and stoplight on sub 10v.(1200RPM)
Alernator rotor and stator outside of specifications with ohmmeter.
Rotor appeared to have been quite hot. Did not test diode board or regulator.
Options were $200 to $450 to return the system to as new condition.
Instead I ordered a 450w Permanent Magnet Alternator from John at EME.
Very good service, communication and product.Arrived here in seven days.
Removed the old bits as per the detailed instructions and installed the new over a
couple of days (no great hurry) had to build a new bracket for the regulator/rectifyer
as the new battery filled the space where it could have gone.
Alernator now charges at 13.5V (3000RPM) and never goes under 12.5V(1200RPM)
Battery now maintains 12.9V.
No more disconnecting battery to protect diode board, no more brushes or sliprins.
Cost $570 for a better than original system.
Lucky the exchange rate is very good (almost parity) and that factor alone made it
feasable to replace OEM with a better system.
