"edit, I forgot the new forum eats half the photo. Right click the image and choose an option to view full photo or open in a new tab........if yer want."
I'm on a few forums that do that. It's almost enough to make me wonder if the problem may be on my end, but I'll fight that suspicion.
Great pictures. I love the sunshine we're getting now but it's definitely not shorts weather.

Gidday fellas,
Well, well, very bloody nice indeed boys .....There will be no forced escapes from that little "Alcatraz" you have there Charlie, if anything mate they'll be wanting to swim over and join the good times and when they do I would suggest a 2 bottle entry fee, of red that is..
And I should hope the fiddle made the journey over as well??
Enjoy it....

Hullo Charlie!
What an amazing spot you've found!.. After looking at your pictures, Ive been scanning Google Earth trying to work out where this fabled isle might be!! I reckon it must be somewhere in the narrows, up near Tallangatta though no sight of that sort of vegetation in from the spy scans!
I've been out riding most days when i have been at home but alas, now back at the desk trying to make sense of the year ahead!.. and another year older!
Happy sailing
Doug

Re: Where the wild things are
Don't forget Doug, this island is magical. It appears and disappears.
I just had a look at google earth myself and couldn't find the island at first.
Google earth shows the Hume weir well less than 100% capacity so...........there is no island.
It's 3 kilometeres upstream from Wymah punt

First this is an island
Then there is no island
Then there is
Then there is no island
Then there is
Any and all disclaimers may apply

I've spent most of my money on women, motorcycles, and beer.
The rest of it I just wasted.

You got it man!Zombie Master wrote:First this is an island

The land that forms the island is always there, unchanged.
Whether it is an island, or whether I could ride my RS to it (as I have done with Charlie) is dependent on the water level in lake Hume.

Aren't you worried you mis-quoted that line too? Actually it sounds right to me.Chuey wrote:Oh, Juanita! I call your name.

I never knew the real words to the chorus in "Blinded by the Light" until I got Springsteen's own version. It doesn't make a lot more sense, but at least I have it correct now.
