On the street ?
Rode a /7 with a deep sump-pan all over the country,
on roads good and bad,
and occasionally off the beaten path –
Never had a road / pan interference of any consequence ...
Will we be off road racing on unknown terrain, or just being totally negligent ?

Anything can and will happen out there. I've been stuck between tress an number of times. I've also replaced a few oil sumps from rock damage.

Your getting stuck and suffering damage is off paved roads? Not sure what you mean, being "stuck between tress" - is this being "stuck between trees"? Not my type of riding, so not sure the reduced ground clearance would be an issue. I rarely get off paved roads.

Many of our customers had a deep sump. We didn't see any advantage for most riders. There are disadvantages. Google this on my website.

Dem boxers get wider as you get into the woods. Not sure why this happens.

The operational term is rarely....So you will rarely break a sump pan. Never would be a big improvement.

So ... carry a fire extinguisher !

The operational term is rarely....So you will rarely spontaneously combust.

Never would be a big improvement.

While it seems like a good idea to me, I am no mechanic nor mechanical engineer. And while $75 plus shipping is a relatively good price - that's a lot of gas money. Even folks who advocate in favor of these deep sumps have only opinions - and then there's the debate about more oil or more air volume. I think I will leave it alone.

Hummmmmmmm
I used the BUB pan on my first 1974 R90/6 and it heald 3QT
then as usual I'd lose the first .5qt before 250 miles, But then it was 2.5 qt and .5 Qt more than before wit ha stock pan

Red is more about my personal BMW resurch and the things is.....

I heard before that SOME R90's lost .5 qt doring the first 250 to 500 mile after a oil change and all bike over 900cc lost that same oil after oil change

BUT Red Used to Be 750cc and it lost .5 qt after oil change so maybe some R75 lost oil, BUT I now know all BMW 750 lost the .5 after oil change too!

so maybe the smaller ones didn't or did BMW miss the boat here as well?

is it possable to figure the mass in space? and answer whats needed with 2 speeding piston's. I figured even a tight BMW motor gona pass some compression gases

Red went to the first level .5 qt lower since I returned to 2Qt level, after I rebuilt the motor to 900cc I had installed the later /7 oil pan its stock and deeper than the /5 pan and I used to add 2.5 qt ,after the bike broke in I rode 4100 mile and found my /5 stick didn't have any oil on it, so I used a /7 stick to find the level at 1.5

so to this I change it at 3000 mile second time with filter and use 2Qt at oil change so deeper pan and deeper oil intake

to this I add I wished the accident never happened and Red was still a 1973 R?/5

I say R?/5 as the motor could be anything now

I could see a deep pan being good for increased air volume.
As far as the oil light flickering on hard braking - Garnet, did you have a pick-up extension on it? I think that would be a really good idea, and with the pickup close to the bottom, I don't see having this issue.

But I am a sucker for:

No deep sump, for me.

I wonder how Curt is doing, anyway?

My sump was holed on the most modern well made road in Australia.

Was it Jeff's brother Ken that had the holed sump last year? The one they repaired by the campfire?
