Why...with popularity of these bikes all over the world, has no one made more modern, light weight, aftermarket wheels for them?

Obviously, because they don't think enough people will buy them.

Putting out $2000 to $3000 for wheels is normal enough for Ducati owners, with carbon going significantly higher, but I doubt there's many Airhead owners who would do so.

While I've been having work done (paint, drivetrain) on the bug, I have had the passenger seat out of it. The rear seat has been in the rafters for years as I don't carry people in back. So there is lots of room. In the car on the way home from Long Beach was a quiet power muffler, a complete set of 42DCNF dual Webers with manifolds and linkage, another box with some other VW parts and my road bike with wheels removed and the two Morris mags with tires. And that didn't take lots of juggling.

In that same car, when I took it to Crested Butte for Fat Tire Bike Week, I had five bicycles (two outside on the rack on the back), clothes for Colorado riding for three people, and my daughter. There was nothing on the roof. Now that was a tight packing job! Gretchen flew up to meet us mid week. That's why we had so many bikes and clothes for three instead of two.

A while ago I was lucky enough to procure a set of Jack McDonald mags, Aussie made items that were made 'specially I believe for the R90S 18 inch front and rear. Anyone heard of them??? The rear is particularly tasty with an original wire wheeled hub skimmed down and shrunk into the mag outer. When Ifind some pics I'll be sure to post them.[quote][/quote]

There were a few other mag wheels made for the BMW airhead, but these will be rare.
In fact, I've only seen pictures of one other set,
and have no idea of the maker.
This will be the first I've heard of Jack McDonald mags– Do post some pics !
