Pretty neat. Can you put something together that shows how the enricheners work? Also, what about the tube in the corner of the float bowl with a small jet in the bottom...this is part of the start circuit.

That's it...I think that had already been posted but forgot. Where does the air-fuel mixture go to enter the carb throat? It appears to go through that tube that's visible on the outside of the carb...must enter through a port on the side or bottom of the carb throat near the bottom of the butterfly or maybe after it?

I got that wrong, I meant mixture screw.

The port right under the edge of the butterfly supplies the idle mixture when the butterfly is against the fast idle stop(throttle closed). The port closest to the head begins to supply fuel as the edge of the butterfly moves over it as the throttle is opened. It is sometimes referred to a transition port. It along with the first port supplies fuel until the air velocity over the top of the atomizer creates enough vaccum to lift the air lightened fuel into the air stream. The transition is from idle ports to needle jet for fuel metering purposes. When the port nearest the head is plugged or partially plugged you get the off idle flat spot.

Steve, I HAVE gotten rather pissed-off at my BING carbs in the past, but not so much as I'd have sawed one in half!!

Really nice pics, you can easily understand why these carbs suffer from blocked up internal passages, if you are not using the bike over the winter months, then you really should drain it of gas.
The enrichener circuit in the float bowl is really neat. There is a tiny hole in the brass pickup tube that drops down into the bowl. When you start the bike the tube draws fuel from the side compartment but e supply of replacement fuel into the side compartment is limited by the jet at the bottom, so when the level drops far enough to uncover the hole in the pickup tube, it draws air thus leaning out the mixture as the bike starts.

I don't think "just like" is entirely accurate, but certainly "much like" is true.
