Yes Ron, wives are welcome.Ron Baker wrote:I have a few more questions. Do wives come to the rally? How about porta Johns at Kens place? And will I be shunned if I ride my LT? My R75 is still in the rebuild process. Seems to be going slower than I'd like it to
Thanks, Ron

Not shown is Mrs. Fixit, who I think has been to almost every rally?
And Ron, if you want LOTS of sneak previews, just go to Randy's (Dwerbil) photo site: http://www.pbase.com/dwerbil
And yes, there is a porta john, with all the extras:

And don't worry about rain:

Hi Ron, I've been away from the forum for the past few days, hence my late response. But it looks like your questions have been pretty much answered.Ron Baker wrote:I have a few more questions. The rally at my place has always been small and casual. Before the first rally, when we were talking about us at Boxerworks getting together, there was quite a bit of discussion as to what kind of rally did we want. And we quickly arrived at a concensus. A key phrase quickly arose, "decidedly unorganized". What that means is that nobody was very interested in the usual rally type with scheduled rides to predetermined places or seminars or pins and patches. Essentially it was a bunch of guys who had gotten to know each other a bit through the Boxerworks forum and we wanted to meet each other.
I'm perhaps sounding like we thought it all out. But with the basic parameters agreed it amounted to a bunch of guys and some gals getting together and the current "format" coalescing into what it is today. One thing has evolved, and that seeing each over again and again has precipitated some nice friendships. I hadn't expected that; well I hadn't "expected" anything beyond the first rally, including a second rally.
There are wonderful places to ride, locally on the Talimena Scenic Drive, but a few others have made excursions into nearby northern Arkansas where there are some sublime roads through forested, hilly terrain.
But by and large there is a lot of sitting and talking, drinking of alcoholic beverages, and othewise enjoying the slightly cacoon like environment of the rally.
There are some "features" that have almost become part of the rally. First and foremost is perhaps the indefatigable Mr. Larry Fixit (who no longer posts here but comes to virtually every rally). If anybody is having any kind of problem with their bike (or car or whatever) Larry is in the middle of it. I have a nice shop and Larry now knows it about as well as I do. And then Duane Ausherman, who has attended a few rallies, is there, eager to teach anybody who is interested about how to maintain their airheads better, including carb adjustment by ear. Poor Duane is sometimes vexed by riders who have problems with their bike and don't seem to have much interest on fixing them or preventing them. And then Don Roberts (who also used to post on Boxerworks) when he comes will usually bring his pipes and enthrall us with his Scottish, and perhaps English or Irish tunes.
I've got a few busy days ahead of me but before long I'll be posting more chatter about what the rally is like. As already mentioned Dwerbil, aka Randy has taken tons of pictures of the rally which will illustrate some of the flavor.
