You might also have him remove the valve covers to see what is "hidden" in there.

Just speaking from recent experience...

And rodent nests in the airbox...

The carbs may need a thorough cleaning if it wasn't stored properly, along with the inside of the gas tank.

By the time you have the bike looking really good and running really good...........you could have bought a new or almost new bike. It just costs a bunch to have that. If you can get by with less, you may have less tied up in it but is it something you want to ride whenever you want to ride it, or is it something you want to ride when it happens to be working. Or, it may be something you want to have so you can say you have it.

Me, I like the fact that I put the bike into good condition (thanks, Boxerworks!). That, I can't get from a newer bike.
