I bought my S for $3500 6 years ago. I reckon I've spent about $5k on it since then, plus a lot of parts that I had laying around in the shed from my 90/6. The Heinrich 8.5 gallon tank cost me $400 28 years ago, I see an 11 gallon on IBMWR for $1600!!!! It costs almost that much to fill one up to the top. I really enjoy my S.

Looks like a pretty crappy re-paint for that much money.

Did you guys not read the description? It has had an interesting history of ownership.
Here, unless Steve McQueen owned it, it probably wouldn't be worth that much.

It isn't even a real motorcycle. It's a keyring or some other sort of novelty. According to the categories on the web page anyway.

That's hysterical. I totally missed that.
Maybe it's only 2" long.

Am I right in thinking that there's no easy way to import an old motorcycle into Oz?

There is a guy who advertises in Just Bikes who will crate and ship a bike which is delivered to him in LA to Melbourne and get it through customs , etc, for less than $1000-.
You will still have to have an inspection before you can register it in your state, but in SA this was just to make certain the numbers on the bike match up with the importers paperwork.

Back in July I ran into a 2 couples from NSW on a GS and an FJR in Portland Oregon. They shipped their bikes over to ride the US and Canadian Rockies. I was amazed how little it had cost them for shipping. It was via container from Sydney or Melbourne to Portland.
