The anodized trailing arm on the tele lever has got to be the single most horrible attempt at bling the universe has ever know.Major Softie wrote:Regardless, I don't think the R1200C is as ugly as the 650CS, but I'll certainly admit it's an arguable issue. They each rank really high.

Kurt, I said "one of . . . "
The bike in the picture you posted is certainly another "one of . . . "

No comparison to my mind, but I realize such things are very subjective. For me the GS's get a bit of a pass because they can ride the "utilitarian" design aesthetic. Pure street bikes don't get that pass.Scot wrote: Kurt, I said "one of . . . "

70's Maicos were considered to look like farm implements to many. To me, they looked like tools purely focused on accomplishing their task, and, as such, beautiful.
Different strokes.

Yes! gorgeous tools. And who needs cams and valves. What ever happened to engine cases? All this die casting, often they just paint it. Looks like shit.

2-3 years back this bike was described as ugly.
It hasn't changed too much. big piccie..right click...
However, as time moves on it's not unlike many others on offer. Has the ugly view softened with time?
They certainly get excellent reviews. The new GT looks damn good I think.

Looks good to me too, and it weighs under 500pds with a full tank. 90 hp seems enough for most days. I think it's the most sensible sport touring bike out there.SteveD wrote:2-3 years back this bike was described as ugly.

I rented a F800GT a couple years ago in San Fran. Lady and I rode to Oregon and back. We both fell in love with the GT. Plenty of luggage space, plenty of power, 70-80 miles to gallon. Only thing missing for me was cruise control. I wonder if the new one have it?
Re: Great machine!
Yest that is ugly, there was one for sale here and wait for it the colour was pink, it was on the market for over 2 years before the owner re painted it red and it sold.Major Softie wrote: ↑Sun Nov 06, 2011 7:10 pmI don't know how you can possibly say that. 'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder'. The ugliness is not in the bike it is in your mind...

There was one of these things up for sale just up the road from me, it was firstly way over priced and to add insult it was painted Pink, it was really ugly to the point of being a joke.
It did finally sell 3 years later after the owner dropped the price down to an almost giveaway price and that was after changing it to red
Whoever designed it needs shooting.
