Colleen and I will be leaving a month of camping in Carbondale (just south of Aspen) on July 15 and taking several days to make the 800+ miles to the Rally. We don't have that leg very well planned yet so I can't committ to anything, but we should check back. I will be in a truck with the R65 in the back and I will be pulling a camper with an extra bed something might work out for that long streach east of Denver.

Brad you do not have to worry about being pre registration for the MOA Rally, just show up and pay. No problem if you are not an MOA member, all are welcome.
My wife Penny and I will be there, more than likely at Aircentral most of the time. We have a room near the rally as Penny hates camping.
I will check the next MOA mag and send you the information, on RV camping

Pre-registration gets you through the registration area faster and costs less.

Coming from North of the Bay area, Hwy 50 probably is the straightest shot West but as always, the pleasures are all in the small things and you can't be in a hurry.
I rode HWY 50 from Nevada through to somewheres around St Louis but except for the day I spent at high speeds through the desert, it wasn't what I'd call 'boring' and there are several side trips and small towns to lunch or overnight in that can add a little spice to the trip. Try the casino in Ely,NA. Low rent gambling at its best and the worst food in the entire US!
If you were to wing your way south towards Moab Utah, you could also head West again, through Cortez, to Mancos CO. (Where theres a great Airhead Service Shop!) , pass through Durango and cross the Rockies via Wolf Creek Pass. After that, you can pick up Rt 50 again through Eastern Colorado. Nebraska can get boring if you don't stop to take in the museums and historic sites that you'll find along the way but it sure beats 40 West during the Summer!
Enjoy your trip however you go!

Ken - Great suggestion.
160 looks like a great road. Ely for a warm shower then to Moab for a good lunch then somewhere near Monticello Ut (Camping in Canyon Lands NP?). The next morning - Cortez to to the Kansas/Colorado border. Then with that route, I think it is 5 days of riding with a long day across Kansas and a mandatory motel in MO for the days there.
Now if I can find a friend to ride with me...

Hwy 50 through Nevada is called the lonelyiest highway and for a good reason. However, I love it and it is our preferred route. Just a few months ago I got paid to drive all over that area and to the tops of some of those mountains too. One had our cell site at 11,000 ft.
I also got to hand out with my Navy Seal friend who works that area.
I want that job back.

Many thanks to Jeff who scanned the registration page out of the magazine and sent it to me. I will be dropping it in the mail today.

Well, they cashed my check, but I don't have much proof of a reservation yet. I am sure it will work out.
