Thanks for your input.
My concern is i may have damaged the tubes which might not be apparent. The tires look good. So heres my plan until i change the tires... (i am keeping tires as they are less than 5 years old with less than 6000). If i go more than 50 miles from home, i plan on packing a front and rear tube in my way from home kit.
keep or replace tires/tubes?
Re: keep or replace tires/tubes?
I always brake in corners and think how I am going to get home if I really mess up. When I get home, I wished that I hadn't used my brakes and should have ridden a bit further.

Well, that certainly can't hurt anything.Ridercam wrote:Thanks for your input.

Re: keep or replace tires/tubes?
Problem with real soft tires is that they might have spun on the rim, which might tend to take the tube with it, and potentially damage the tube at the valve/ tube junction.
The sidewall may have been damaged too.
If you survive a valve pull out at speed, with the sudden deflation that goes with it, you will never want to experience it again.
The tires and tubes have done 6000 miles they so the dont owe you much - junk them and get some decent new rubber, IMHO it isnt worth risking your life to save the $30- new tubes would cost.

6000 miles on a tire? I don't see that in kilometers.

I got one of those thumbs off eBay and use it all the time, it's an excellent indicator.Duane Ausherman wrote:With experience we learned to make a very good guess of tire pressure with just our thumb pressure. With our fingernail we could accurately judge tire hardness
The thumb nail has a digital read out on it!
But it's in bar. I don't understand that shite.

One bar is one atmosphere (~14.7 psi.)
