We used about 4.5 mm but in inches it was around .180"

You really can't trust any printed manual, even BMW. We found serious errors in every single one of them.

The only reason it was the felt washer on mine is that it was probably damaged on installation the last time around. It can be a little tricky if I recall - of course if you really screw it up you could end up with the chlutch actuation rod binding....I suppose. Just something be be careful of..

The bike is not coming to MY garage, so I hope it doesn't get messed-up.
I did call the owner's dad and mentioned this thread and how to find it. and was somewhat confounded to discover he did NOT KNOW that you should block the crank from the front if you were going to remove the flywheel.
Hope I headed off a disaster there...

I have a 79 R65 that I got about 6 years ago with 11k on it. It made it to about 20k and the clutch started slipping. I changed a lot of stuff, but I am pretty sure the only thing wrong was the diaphragm spring. It's not the miles, but the years. The R65 does have smaller clutch bolts than my R90 and I did over torque one to failure.
