On the ribbed rear drives that I have, they have a steel sleeve surrounding the stud. The sleeve is 15mm in diameter and sits proud about 1.5mm of the spot faced surface allowed for the shock.

Garnet is right. Though, mine will look a bit different. I'll share a picture when it is further along.

Threaded in, will simply come out with two nuts locked against each other.

That's better still, but if it was mine I'd want it in line with the brace, not attached to the top of it.
