pilot active rear
Re: pilot active rear
Pilot active, we can't get the Macs either
Re: pilot active rear
Jeez, you blokes make me feel like I'm not trying hard enough. I got 12,000 km from the rear and 16,000 km from the front with my last Pilot Activs. That's well up on the BT45s that I used before. And they certainly hold the road better.
I forget what brand of tyre was on the back when I got the bike about 10 years ago but it wore so flat in the middle that you could feel it tip from the flat bit to the curved bit when you went 'round corners.

No Easter ride for me.
Ordered a new tyre from Melbourne first thing Monday morning.
Thursday afternoon, no tyre.
Melbourne is 300 k's away. That's 75 k each day.
They should never have stopped sending mail by stage coach.
Of course there is not one bike shop out of 4 in my area, has a 4:00/18
I'm gonna join the Amish.

I'm in the same boat, but it's OK as I just got home yesty arvo from about a 2000k ride.
Tyre is a Lazertec 120/90 and was a bit rubber cow this trip, suppose Iv'e taken it a bit far, again!!
Anyhow Jeff with my low powered bike it seems that I may be getting a few more Ks than you.

Do you think that I would be better off with the Pilot Active and are they very expensive?
Will be ordering a new tire on Tuesday.
Edit...Should have added that this tire has 11890 Ks on it.

Rear brake use is an important factor as well.Bob Bennett wrote: Anyhow Jeff with my low powered bike it seems that I may be getting a few more Ks than you.

Geez Bob, that tyre's just run in!
12,000 is pretty darn good
The pilot actives are about $140
I haven't run a rear lasertec to see how they fair for flattening off.
I do know that a michelin will also flatten off it it doesn't see much hard cornering.
One way to find out Bob, buy one and try one.

The other option Bob is the newer Avons. They were quite a bit more costly when I looked at them b/w the Macs being unavailable and the Pilot A's becoming available. I didn't get any and haven't read anything that suggests they'd be better than the Pilots.

How did you know that I rely on the front brake.
