Rode the new GS1200

This is for the discussion of Motorcycling. The art, the science, the theory of all things related to our favorite sport... riding motorcycles.

Especially since, on at least one wethead GS (mentioned earlier in the thread, complete with well-deserved chastisement from Softie) the starter mechanism seems to be rather fragile.

New BMW bikes -
Definitely overpriced.
Probably a PIA.
(But that's just me.)
I've spent most of my money on women, motorcycles, and beer.
The rest of it I just wasted.

Except the G650 Cross Country ... I'm seriously tempted , I test rode a 2009 model the other day and it was VERY nice.

Sibbo, I'm not even sure that was released here in the States. It does look nice though.

It's essentially a stripped down F650 GS, it weighs 136 kg / 300 pound dry. It's light, very light and runs 50 hp so of course BMW discontinued it !

Oh man, I read that whole thread on advrider. I tried to join that forum a couple years ago and somehow, it wouldn't let me do so. Evidently, it was some kind of cornputer glitch. Rob Valdez tried to help me with it. It was not meant to be. It doesn't have the charm or depth of this place.
