Gidday Nick, welcome to the nut house.
Mostly we can sort your airhead troubles, or make them bigger.

Welcome aboard, Nick and Beatrix.
I'm into nekkid bikes too. Though I do feel some fairing envy when trying to keep up with the RS riders at illegal speeds, or when it's just too bloody cold for man or beast. Have fun.

Do not use 7/8" bars, only use 22 mm bars.
did you find snowbum's and my site? W6rec.com. Each will offer up some articles that you may find useful.

I did find Snowbum's. His is a bit hard to sort out, but there's a lot of good info there. I'll check yours out ASAP. Thanks!

The bars I REALLY want are on there towards the bottom (black bars with cross bar, shown in a bag). Pretty good price compared to OEM GS bars, and they'd certainly achieve the look I'm after. Seems like a good knowledgable guy just out to help out other Airhead lovers, but maybe a tad insecure feeling. Anyone have any experience?
Is it you to whom the "insecure feeling" refers? I see nothing to indicate him being insecure. Nobody who builds boats like the ones he does has any excuse for feeling insecure. He doesn't sound like a blow hard, but that's all to the good and in no way makes me think he is insecure.

I meant his website seems "unsecured" being that it isn't a true e commerce site and seems to be lacking a shopping cart/etc. Sorry about the confusion. I wrote that post on my phone, and must have gotten hit with a strange autocorrect error that I didn't catch.

FWIW.
I tried their torque wrench adapter for transmission bolts.
It was junk. It deformed and became useless on the second bolt. I was torquing it correctly with a torque wrench.
I bought the Snap-On version, used it a few times, and it worked perfectly.

I have bought stuff from Northwood airheads. bought tune up parts, plug wires, carb kits. Even sprung for their exhaust flange wrench, it was well made and pretty strong. Usual practice is to send him an e-mail with your wish list and he comes back with a price. He takes PayPal if I remember correctly.

If you are still looking for bars try http://www.spieglerusa.com/ even though they only offer 7/8 bars, they have a very wide selection.

Awesome, I may hit him up for a price on those GS bars and fork gaiters...

...and maybe a new gas cap if he has any.

Hopped on Beatrix to ride to work this morning. Popped open the gas cap in the garage to take a look in the tank since I was fairly confident I needed gas (I'm still running through the gas the PO left in the tank for me... so I haven't been able to start keeping track of my miles just yet). Put the cap back on and headed out to the local gas station. Pop off the bike and go to remove the cap, and it just spins but does not engage the bottom half of the cap with the threads. It pops every time it comes around and hits the catch points, but won't engage them enough to spin the cap out. Luckily I wasn't far from home and was able to get the bike home and hoped on the father-in-laws r100rs to get into the office.

I found this page with some info, and solutions for this kind of problem, but any advice would be awesome:
http://www.largiader.com/articles/gascap/

I'll be in the garage tinkering with it tonight. I'd like to ride it to work tomorrow! :D

My R80 had that "spinning gas cap" issue, I used to pull up on the cap at the same time as turning it in a counter-clockwise direction. And don't put it on too tightly. A new gas cap might be in order.
