The valeo starters as sold by euromotoelectrics will really improve the way your bike starts and the valeos have got over their early mechanical issues.
+1

I have a Valeo on my /2 conversion and had a Enduralast on my late /5 winter bike. Both have small batteries. They both crank over like they are hooked to a public utility, even when it's way too cold to be out ridding.

Pulled the starter. It has an 8-tooth gear. [430 Bosch; 0.001.157.015]

Back right bolt holding the starter was a challenge, otherwise straightforward.

Thanks for the input. I take it many think the Valeo the best, cost-effective replacement? Worth the $100 over EME's own EnDuraLast?

Not "best," but most cost effective. I think everyone agrees that the NIppon Denso is "best," but quite expensive.

I felt the Enduralast to be as good as the Valeo, but only had it for about 2 years. That was daily wintertime ridding, which is a lot more wear and tear than normal. I've had a Valeo for about 5 years with no problems, but it probably hasn't seen many more starts than the Enduralast did.

The Valeo is rebuildable, the Enduralast is not.

How much and what kind of ridding are you planning?

As long as the CIRCLIP is not lodged inside your collective brains!

Thanks all for advice. After some further research, I decided to try the EnDuraLast, seems to be a good product. If I have problems with it, I'll post a review.

No, no, no. Post a review regardless of whether things go good or bad.
