It is the right side only. I completely tore the carb apart and soaked it it B12 for a few hours and blew out everything with compressed air. It appeared to be spotless. A few orings were in pretty bad shape so I have them on order but I figured I would throw it together and see what happens. It seemed fine holding the throttle steady at the 1/8 throttle mark and the plug even got a bit of grey color to it. I took it out on the road and it still runs bad right at the 1/8 throttle mark and the plug was white again. Ill try the new parts when they come in. Also upon reassembly I noticed that the slide has 2 holes drilled in it. Do these holes go on the intake side or the airbox side?

Towards the head.
The inner edge of the diaphragm will correctly fit only one way onto the slide via locating tabs. Then the outer diaphragm also locates into a spot on the outer edge of each carb. That should govern correct position of the slide.

If you've soaked the carb in a solvent, and you can see that many of the o-rings are already dodgey, then don't forget the butterfly o-rings. They're the more difficult to sort out as the butterfly screws need to be well peened to prevent losing them into the head!

Sounds to be running lean at the trouble spot.... and beyond.
If the slide is in ass about it will not lift (as easily?) because the vacuum is not forming at the angle cut. This is where the vacuum that lifts the slide is formed.
I'm ready for a flaming.........

Those holes are in two stubs hanging down from the bottom of the slide, the stubs cut at about 45 degrees.
The long side of the stubs goes to the airbox side.

From a 94/40/103, R100S carb I believe.
