I guess it was a good think you were wearing your jacket on your shin.
Way to ATGATT. It makes all the difference. You'll have to do some repairs on the bike, but on the gear it's just battle scars to be proud of (and to remind you how smart you were to wearing that gear when being stupid).
Glad you're alright and, as above, especially glad you avoided the Buick.
X2. Hope you're not too stiff in the morning.
What if you'd been on Rob's fire-breathing 250?
X3!
Heck mel, his 125 has the
good frame! The 250 just has spindly round tubes.
Garnet - maybe when you are healed you should check out some track days? I think the wife is primed for that one!

Telling the story is a good ending.
Annoying though isn't it, but a chance to upgrade the gear might be a silver lining.
Glad u r ok!

Bummer...
Better a few scrapes to the gear and bike then finding yourself under the Buick!
Rest up, lots of ibuprofen and you'll be back in the saddle in no time. Glad this turned out relatively ok...considering.

Things aren't healing up as fast as planned. Had Xrays on my right shoulder yesterday and will find out today, but I may have cracked my collar bone near the shoulder or had a minor dislocation of the shoulder. After looking at the jacket again, the right shoulder area took the worst impact, so that is where I landed first, then my right arm was pulled up and back causing all the muscle pains in my upper back and sides. It was a very sharp and instant pain, not something that came along after the shock wore off.
The bike came through quite well with only a couple of cracks in the plastic and a broken signal light bulb. A couple of new decals and I can say "only tipped over in the garage"
It's already ready to ride.............. if my arm wasn't in a sling.

Garnet, a 125 is an unusual ride for we ... um, older blokes . If I may ask , how much do you weigh and how does it go with you aboard ?
I know there was a thread on it when you bought it but I can't find it.
I'm still considering a smaller bike too.

This seems a possibility but I'll have to scam a test ride from a shop first .

I'll ask him what he thinks of it.

The CBR125 is a bit more sporty ride than the CBR250. It develops it's power up high above 7000 rpms where as the 250 gives a very pleasant torque pull from 3 or 4000 on up with no big bump as it comes on the cam. The 125 is 300lbs (136 kg) wet compared to 365 (166 kg) for the 250, and has a very rigid steel spare frame and fairly large tyres that gives a very confidant feel in the corners despite it's very budget suspension.
I add 200 lbs (91 kg) with gear and a tail pack. That certainly taxes the 13hp available. Rides are a mix of love and hate. I love that I can keep up and usually ahead of average traffic while getting 37 to 39 kilometers to a liter of regular petrol. I hate when I'm at the bottom of a long hill and that car I was about to pass just drives off into the distance only to hold me up in the next set of curves.
And that last comment leads to the real cause of my accident. I try and make up for the lack of power by not slowing enough for the corners. I have had a feeling of impending doom for the last few weeks as I found myself out pacing the sane internal speed limits that one sets for ones self. I had been considering other bikes that I could somehow ride more slowly but yet have the same amount of fun, be as economical and as easy to live with as the wee Honda.
I now have an answer,
anything is more fun than a broken collar bone.
