Ah ha, you didn't give us all of the facts.

As I understand it, your leak seems to be from the joint between the transmission case and the rear cover. Have you proven that?

Synthetic has been reported to seep past seals and I would expect that a gasket isn't much different. Personally, I am not too worried about a minor leak such as you report. I would prefer to use the synthetic oil in the transmission and live with the mess.

It is possible that you could remove the transmission and the cover to replace the old gasket with a new one and use a bit of sealer on it. Just how much are you willing to pay to use the better oil?

Decisions, decisions, and that is life.

I could be way off base here. You may find the source of the leak somewhere else. I am not there to look at it. Although my eyes aren't magic. Keep reporting and we will keep making up little chores for you to perform.

So as of last week when I put the bike away for winter, the transmission was still leaking from the same seam. Let me sask a question. How would one know if the output shaft seal is leaking? I know this,it seems that the level of fluid is getting lower in the transmission,& I see transmission oil around the rear transmission gasket. Is it the case that the leaking oil has no other place to go than out the gasket?
