In this case I was not being facetious. Read my post literally and you will see. I just tried to say that the R50/5, R60/5 and the R75/5 had the same throttle in any given year. While I was mostly concerned with the issue, that of diameter, it also included the rest of the throttle aspects. However, I forgot to limit my statement to those imported into the USA.
The throttle was delivered to some other countries slightly differently.
I have always railed against modifying the casting to fit it to another diameter. I tried to cover this issue quite well in my article at
http://w6rec.com/duane/bmw/control/ Did I forget something, or print an error?
I do know that I have one omission in the throttle, but I don't yet know the history, so I haven't edited that article to include more information. The throttle cover can be long or short on some of the /5 series and I don't know why it happened, but I have seen two cases of the short cover fitting a USA bike.
Does anybody know the how and why of this anomaly?
Another error of mine is that I don't have a used throttle listed on eBay right now. I checked it after posting my error. I do have one that I removed from my daily rider and it will be for sale shortly.
Mostly, I am trying to list the larger items to get rid of bulky stuff that clogs up the shop. I am running out of time and can pack up the small stuff for later listings. A few small items have been offered, usually due to my forgetfulness, or that someone asked for it. A few parts have gone away because I owed someone who did me a huge favor.
I still must list the frame, forks, engine lower end, transmission, swing arm and final drive. All of those are in very good condition, or at least that is my belief. I might find a surprise though. I built this bike some 30+ years ago and have forgotten a lot of what I modified, or why.
I just returned from a 6 day trip and am still trying to get caught up with chores and news. Sorry if I have mislead anybody, as it was accidental. I hope to get back to intentional misleading very soon.
