I've got YSS on my R100RS. No complaints. Good service and work well. Infinitely tunable, which is probably a bit lost on me. I tend to be set at something and that'll do it!

I don't know if they post to Australia, but I have a Works shock on my RT (mono), and I'm happy with it. I noticed on their site, they do make a shock for the ST.

I had a Hagon on my '87 R100RS for a few years. Excellent.

Thanks all, I'll wait until the bloke in the repair shop gives me a price and tells me how successful his repair will be then I may have to chase one of the options . I'm also ringing around for a second hand one too.
My preference is for the Hagon so far... I gues cos i really like dealing with Motobins and Hagon has a good name.

I enjoyed the Hagon twin shocks on my R65 when I had it.
The mono-shock is so much more expensive, though!

Ross at BMW Spares in Melbourne can do a YSS mono for $380, that the best price so far and if you reckon they're OK, it will be what I go for if I have to buy new . That means if the repairer can't repair . There don't appear to be any secondhand units out there .
Thanks for the recommendation.

When it comes to suspension, I would buy new, unless it were a brand that you knew was rebuildable,

Several years ago I was also looking for a new mono-shock for my '89 R100RS. Tom Cutter of the Rubber Chicken Racing Garage recommended and only offers YSS shocks (
http://www.rubberchickenracinggarage.com/yss.html). Ted Porter is also carrying YSS shocks (
http://beemershop.com/SUSPENSION_CENTER.html). Ted originally recommended a Wilbers shock over an Ohlins, but he didn't carry YSS at the time. Both of these guys know their stuff when it comes to suspension!

If your shock is the same as a G/S I have a WP here I might part with, for the right money
Also have a spare heavy spring which I will fling in if you are contemplating RTW sized luggage loads, or if you are a big lad or------------.
Was serviced around 5000 km back, before it was replaced by an Ohlins with a much softer spring which is a bit kinder to my ,err, seniors, back.
