Back when I was pulling my tranny every other day, I was surprised how quickly any trace of the lube disappeared.
I was/do use moly T white paste. Don't know who makes it, the local airhead supplier sells it.

I use Mystic JT-6 for all grease applications on my fleet. Won't come off with water, sticky stuff, been using it for about 46 years.
