listen, before you take your lithium, you must realize that it takes more than a day to get used to a new browser. FF does work better and faster than IE. Too old to adapt to a slightly different way of doing things? I'm only 68 and learning new things every day, I hope I don'tDuane Ausherman wrote:I tried Firefox some years back. stop learning new ways of doing things until they haul me away.

I have the same problem when I visit my neighbor and he has me try and do something on his I.E. powered internet.Duane Ausherman wrote:I tried Firefox some years back. It might work just fine, but too much of the visual was changed.
I keep saying "Firefox - Firefox!". And then I go home.
Re: Makes me want to take a nap!
Well, I don't blame you for giving up on it, Duane. I gave it a shot; I "lost" my frontpage list of favorites , then YouTube wants me to download a newer version of Adobe Flash to view videos, but for some reason it won't download until I "delete Mozilla Firefox" , and now random words on my screen are green and double underlined(?) Ahhhh, progress!!! edited to add: the first "download" is green and underlined, the second isn'tDuane Ausherman wrote:I tried Firefox some years back. Re: Makes me want to take a nap!
I like learning new things, but those of my choice. The computer is not a hobby of mine, it is a tool. A very frustrating tool too. I don't want a challenge with certain things in my life, I want to take them for granted.
I don't really care for cars, but love them as a tool. They are not fun to drive, own or pay for. Motorcycles are for fun. My ideal car would have been new at my high school graduation and I am still driving it today. A car is something that I wish to take for granted. I just want it to work and do what I wish. I have never wanted to get a "new program" to play with, like so many of my friends do. I wish to be at the trailing edge of technology. I like XP and my laptop with Vista is a total disaster.
Had I wanted a computer for the usual purposes, I probably would have gotten an Apple. However, there were no programs for the Ham Radio contests at the time that I first wanted a computer. I didn't want it for the Internet, only my radio contests. So, I bought a PC. Over the past 18 years I have expanded my use to some Internet, not much. I never surf, never play any games. I come to this site and a few others. I do use Google for a specific use, but it ends there.
Gotta admit that I like my email. My work requires it too. I don't hate computers in any way, I just use it as a necessary tool.
These people can blame themselves, as I am not alone in this aspect. Nearly all programs make me feel stupid. Almost none are intuitive, at least not to me.
Same with the grocery check out being done by the buyer. It makes me feel stupid, so I wait through the line of people to get a real person to take my money.
I even have trouble buying gas for the Camry. Too many pumps have some obscure scheme to get the gas. Since I travel all of the time, I see quite a variety of them. I try to go to the same brand stations just so I won't have to feel stupid trying to figure out how to buy gas. You think that I am alone in this? No way, I ask others and often get either help, or that others also hate feeling stupid.
I am in the business of cell phones. I have the old 2G phone called GSM. I can barely operate it. No way would I take a smart phone even if it were free.
My Garmin GPS is so well done that I was able to figure it out. Didn't even come with a book. Now those people have learned how to program a computer. If that unit can be made to be easy to learn, then they all can be done that way.
There is a terrific opportunity in making stuff easy to use. MicroSoft has been successful in spite of producing the greatest virus in the world. Duh!!

I've spent most of my money on women, motorcycles, and beer.
The rest of it I just wasted.

I hear ya.
We are just starting a kitchen reno, and have a new electric range on order. It has NO KNOBS! It's computor contrled! You can't buy an oven that has a temp knob anymore..... how am I gonna cook? AND it cost more than a good fixer upper airhead
AND I'm the I.T. guy at work..... fortunatly our computors still have vacume tubes.

I have an old German Nordmende Hi-Fi radio with big tubes in my workshop. You can warm your hands up on itGarnet wrote:

I had a look at this thing at the local motorcycle show on the w/e. It was hard to get close as the y-gen types were all over it like a slug on wet grass.Zombie Master wrote:http://www.bikeexif.com/ducati-diavel
They were excited by it, and it gained more attention than the more traditional bikes like the 848/1098 etc.
Sure not my cuppa.

It actually looks like it would be a fantastic ride: from the weight, the seating position, and the motor. I think anyone would be ecstatic to ride one . . . and not just because you couldn't really see it when you're on it.SteveD wrote:I had a look at this thing at the local motorcycle show on the w/e.
