3 bikes in there now, back shed cleared out and camping relocated to there.
Checked all 3 batteries, rotating the chargers. All good.

I've had the petrol tank drained over winter to let it dry out. I needed to use the bike, so how to fill it again. My crappy plastic petrol container had broken it's cap so the only resort was to take the tank off, put it in the boot of the car and off to the petrol station to get it filled. What bike has such an easy tank to remove: undo the hose to the carbs, flip up the rear bale clip, pull the tank back and it's off. 2 mins tops.

Went and looked at the R80 intention was to pull out the Gearbox for when the parts arrive, still not feeling well (thanks Covid 19) so went back to bed.

Thought about my upcoming projects. That's right, all I could do was think......

My RT's apart for timing chain and drive shaft U-Joint replacement. Although I'm waiting for some parts, there are some things I could do, but around 45 degrees F (7 degrees C), it's a bit too cold for me to want to do anything with my fingers numb. No heater in the garage. So, I'm waiting for parts and warmer weather.

Yesterday I removed my handmade aluminum steering damper knob (never did like the the plastic version, and I do understand they are not really needed) from my r75/5 swb. It was a bit over scale in my eyes and I just felt like reducing the diameter and height. I turned it down further and managed to shape the top dome better than before.

Today and the past few days I've been swapping the RS fairing off my R80 and putting an RT fairing on. Had got rewire the ignition switch from the side of the head lamp to the dash, lengthen the brake pipe for the high bars, reroute the choke cable. Had to purchase a longer clutch cable and upper throttle cable (still waiting for them to arrive... Xmas post and all that!). Fitting the screen a one fiddly, awkward and annoying job. need triple jointed wrists and not have stubby little fingers. .
Still got the brake to bleed and fit the remaining fasteners to the lower fairing and front bit with the steering gaiters. Another fiddly bit with superglue.. refit the tank and the seat then ready for a test ride weather permitting.

Then to put the RS fairing on the market will have to strike up eBay and see what they are going for.


It's been a rewarding job so far and my back will thank me on long rides.
