Hmmm....I just saw this thread...sorry to hear that you are struggling to get that seal out.
Looks like it is time to....sit in the corner and relax. No one can really help you remotely, but that seal can and will come out. I had a rear main seal that gave me trouble once.
You need the right angle and right force and it should be done. At this point it is just a matter of focusing on what the extraction tool is doing.
gspd is right on about the tool to use and how to product the case.
You can do it.
Sorry if I missed a note on this thread....I did not read all 11 pages.

Things will get better. Don't forget to breathe while in process.

The old seal is out (I had to hammer a screwdriver between it & the case), and the new seal in.
The transmission is in place, waiting for final connections.

Yeah, well, f' it. If it leaks, I'm opening a store on eBay.

Wondering if a sealant might improve your chances of staying away from flea bay?

Not if the new seal is already in place. Rob could always pull it out tho' as he now knows how.
You'll get it sorted Rob.

Would you believe I began putting in the left-side fasteners when I remembered that I hadn't lubed the splines nor the push-rod tip?
