That's a grand hotel, but my taste and budget swerves mightily towards that magnificent hut. I'd love to spend a month or two there.
Doug, the Ghan trip sounds like a cracker. I trust you and your dad behaved yourselves.
Seconded Charlie! I have to admit to finding that pub a little foreboding , I'll take one end of the shed, not too near the fire.
I'll get down there one day gentlemen, it looks like a fine time was had by all.

Understandable Sibbo, the pub is pissed!
Apparently it was to be built at Bondi, but some dickhead thought that Captain Flat was going to be a boom town so it was built there instead.

Hey Doug, sounds like you had a great time with your dad, better than any 'ol bike trip - you can go on those any time... time with the old man is much more precious!
in the meanwhile i found a couple a more pics... i wonder if the site will allow me to post 'em this time?
"Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached." ... i guess not...
anyone know if this can be resolved or are my pic posting days over?

Pete, it's pretty rare that a forum permits photo attachments since they clutter up the servers.
The best thing to do is get yerself a free picture hosting account. I use PictureTrail but there are a few others out there (Flickr, Photobucket, etc). It's just like joining a forum - you register with a username and password, and once approved you get to upload pics and grab the address code to paste into a post here or on any other forum. I've found it is best to resize the pics to 800 pixels wide so they load quickly. I'm happy to talk you through it if you have any difficulties.

Thanks for the heads-up Chas... fair'nuf re the pics posted to the forum, t'was me bein slack.
You post reminded me i have (just confirmed) a flickr account. I'll attempt to link pics from there in future.
The main reason i would post the pics to the forum was 'coz i had limited bandwidth and emasculated speeds, but that is (mostly) no longer the case. so, time for me to become a more responsible forumiser!

In the spirit of becoming a more responsible netizen I'll attempt to link a pic on flickr of my return ride from the CF run...
