Another Oz get together

This is for the discussion of Motorcycling. The art, the science, the theory of all things related to our favorite sport... riding motorcycles.

They sure are toey.... and I found out why the Americans don't get to buy Throttle Rests.

Pop a wheelie and try to back off with a Throttle Rest. I don't know how I survived one where I was 100% convinced I was going over backwards. I presume I got to the rear brake.... but don't really know, or maybe I hit the rev limiter. I'd lost the left foot off the peg (hard to do, given they are just serated steel - and grip like sh!t to a blanket)... and all I could see in front of me was the petrol tank cap. Its just not possible to back off with the bike vertical and your wrist pressing the Throttle Rest. Mine came off and stayed off after that.

Still, its nice to have something that has the grunt to overtake a semi in about 1.5 nanoseconds.

You're damn right the KTMs are toey Bigfella.

Here is a piccie of my old RS (back of the line) and a bevy of KTMs on a ride to Bathurst this year.

We're on top of Mt Panorama watching the lads pop wheelies over the top. A couple of the boys tried a few 160km/h wheelies down conrod before the locals came up to move us on. They just sound like a bunch Ducatis going around Mt Panorama in the early morning air.

Safe to say the old RS just watched the fun.

Excellent.

I can't wait until they close that road and make it a pay-per-lap venue like the Nurburgring. A former client was on the Council there and they wangled about $25 mil out of Little Johnnie a few years back to buy out local properties. When I spoke to him about 4 years ago, they had half the properties.

btw... I bought another bike this weekend - a German one... for the 2011 Scrapheap Adventure Ride. Had to be a less than $1k purchase.... so I bought an MZ ETZ 250.

Anyone want to raise some money for the Down Syndrome Assn? Easter Saturday 2011 at Cameron Corner.
